A small, intimate safari lodge at the water’s edge
Easy to switch off. Easy to feel at home.
On safari, a significant part of your time is spent between game drives. That time matters just as much as the moments in the wilderness.
Built around the waterhole and open to the bush beyond, Arathusa Safari Lodge is a calm, grounding base – designed to support the safari experience, not compete with it. With just 24 guests at a time, it is intimate and adults-only, well suited to couples, friends, solo travellers, and families with older children (16+) who value ease, presence, and a sense of belonging.

The Heart of
the Lodge
The Heart ofthe Lodge
At Arathusa, life centres around shared spaces – the lounge, dining areas, decks, pool, and fire pits, all sitting at the water’s edge.
You’ll move easily between inside and outside, settling where the light, shade, or atmosphere feels right. The sounds of the bush, the open air, and the changing light keep the landscape part of your day. These spaces are designed for ease rather than formality – you choose where to sit, when to linger, and how to spend your time.

A day on safari
A day on safari
Days at Arathusa follow the rhythm rather than the clock.
Mornings begin early – coffee and a light refreshment before heading out as the bush comes to life. A guided walk some days, a relaxed breakfast on return, and open time to unwind at your own pace.
The middle of the day is unhurried. Lunch enjoyed slowly, then time to rest, read, swim, or book a spa treatment.
As the day cools, afternoon tea signals the return to safari. Or stay in, and watch the light change over the waterhole in the quiet of a lodge without guests on drive.
Sundowners in the bush as dusk moves into dark. Back to the lodge to freshen up, then drinks, dinner, and easy conversation. Firelight and night sounds close the day naturally.
There is structure, but no pressure. The choice is always yours.
Dining out
Dining at Arathusa is flexible by design. The indoor dining room, outdoor patio, lawn, and thatched viewing deck overlooking the waterhole are all part of the daily rhythm. Evenings might find you around the fire pit, in the wine cellar, or in the private family room. Breakfast in the bush, sundowners on drive, and private set-ups for special occasions are all part of what’s possible here.
The setting changes. The service doesn’t.

Design and Atmosphere
Design and Atmosphere
The design at Arathusa is guided by two intentions: to stay closely connected to the bush, and to create spaces where you feel genuinely comfortable. There are places to connect with others and places to retreat and be on your own.
Materials, textures, and finishes are chosen for sensory comfort and a natural fit with the environment – warm, durable, and full of character.
Artworks throughout the lodge have been commissioned specifically for Arathusa, inspired by the surrounding plant and animal life. A consistent palette, drawn from colours and textures found in the reserve, ties the spaces together and reinforces a strong sense of place.

Where You’ll Rest
Where You’ll Rest
Each suite is designed as a private retreat – space, comfort, and a sense of separation when you want it. Some overlook the waterhole; others sit deeper in the bush for greater seclusion and privacy. All are designed for rest.
For those seeking deeper relaxation, the Safari Spa offers a quiet space for treatments between drives.
